How DeKarma Works

A step-by-step walkthrough of how neighbors post needs, connect safely, verify tasks in person, and circulate community goodwill through Karma.

1

Step 1: Post Your Request

Open the app, select the category (Daily Help, Disability Support, or Elder Care), pick the task type (e.g. Grocery Pickup, Reading Mail), and specify your timing (Today, Tomorrow, or Flexible).

Privacy Guarantee: Only your approximate distance (e.g. within 500m) is broadcast to nearby neighbours. Your exact home address is never shown publicly.
2

Step 2: Smart Local Matching

Neighbours within walking distance receive a notification about the request. Anyone willing and available can tap "Offer to Help".

Real Community: Matches prioritize geographical proximity, active helper availability, and matching skill sets (like language, mobility, or tech).
3

Step 3: Review & Connect

The requester reviews the profile of the neighbour who offered help — including their verification badge, mutual tasks completed, and community reputation score.

Full Control: You decide whether to accept the helper. When you accept, the task moves into the active preparation stage.
4

Step 4: Safe En-Route Coordination

When the helper is ready, they tap "I'm on my way". At this exact point, precise meeting directions and live location updates become visible to coordinate meeting.

Gated Transparency: Neither party sees live movement until the helper has committed and started travelling.
5

Step 5: In-Person Task Verification

When the task is finished (e.g. groceries handed over, letter read, elder escorted), both parties verify the completion in person.

Two Verification Options: Scan the requester's on-screen QR code or enter the secure 4-digit numeric OTP. Tasks cannot be falsely marked complete from a distance.
6

Step 6: Karma Settlement & Gratitude

The Karma credits held in escrow are released instantly to the helper's balance, and both members can leave a warm note of thanks and trust endorsement.

Community Flow: The helper now has Karma to request help when they need it, continuing the circle of reciprocal community care.
