DeKarma Community Guidelines

Our shared code of conduct to ensure that every interaction across the DeKarma platform is safe, respectful, and dignified.

1. Mutual Respect & Dignity

DeKarma is founded on neighborly goodwill. Treat every community member with respect regardless of age, gender, caste, religion, disability, or background.

Any form of harassment, hate speech, abusive language, or condescending behavior is strictly prohibited.

2. Consent & Clear Communication

Requesters: Provide clear, accurate descriptions of the task required, including any heavy lifting or mobility needs. Do not add surprise tasks after meeting.

Helpers: Only offer help if you genuinely have the time and capability. If your plans change, cancel promptly so the requester can receive help from someone else.

3. Privacy & Confidentiality

Respect your neighbour's private life. If assisting with mail reading, paperwork, or tech setup, you may see sensitive information (names, bills, medical appointments).

Strict Rule: You must never copy, photograph, share, or disclose any member's personal information to anyone else.

4. Strictly Prohibited Tasks

The following tasks are strictly banned on DeKarma. Posting or accepting these tasks will result in immediate account termination:

× Commercial & Freelance Work Hiring professional contractors, painters, construction crews, or business staffing.
× Dangerous or Hazardous Tasks Working with electrical mains, climbing tall roofs, handling toxic chemicals, or heavy industrial machinery.
× Medical Procedures & Nursing Administering injections, dispensing prescription changes, wound care, or replacing professional healthcare.
× Illegal Goods & Controlled Substances Purchasing alcohol, tobacco, narcotics, weapons, or unpermitted pharmaceutical items.
× Child Endangerment, Exploitation & Unsupervised Childcare Tasks involving unaccompanied minors, solitary childcare/babysitting, and any form of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or exploitation are strictly banned. Violations result in instant permanent account ban and immediate statutory law enforcement reporting.

5. Consequences for Violations

Our moderation team investigates all community reports thoroughly. Violations of these guidelines may lead to:

  • Formal warnings and temporary Karma deductions
  • Temporary suspension of posting and offering privileges
  • Permanent blacklisting and account termination
  • Referral to law enforcement in cases of criminal misconduct, theft, or physical harm
