Child Safety & Minor Protection Policy

Last Updated: October 1, 2026 · Effective Date: October 1, 2026

Zero Tolerance for Child Abuse and Exploitation

DeKarma maintains an absolute zero-tolerance standard against Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSAE), grooming, child trafficking, and any form of minor endangerment.

Any user attempting to facilitate, request, or share content involving child exploitation will face immediate, permanent account termination and referral to law enforcement agencies and relevant international organizations.

1. Scope and Mission

DeKarma is a hyper-local mutual-aid network designed to connect adult neighbours for everyday community assistance (such as carrying packages, disability accompaniment, and tech support for elders).

Because DeKarma facilitates in-person community exchanges and communication, we place the physical, mental, and digital safety of children and minors at the forefront of our platform design, community moderation, and policy enforcement.

2. Minimum Age Requirements

  • Account Registration: Users must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction) to create an account, post help requests, or offer volunteer services.
  • Child Care & Babysitting: DeKarma is strictly designed for task-based neighbourly mutual aid (errands, accessibility, elder assistance). Unsupervised child-sitting, nursery care, or tasks requiring solitary custody of minors are strictly prohibited on the platform.
  • Presence of Minors: If a household with minors requests help (e.g., carrying groceries or moving furniture into a family home), an adult parent or guardian must be present at all times during the interaction.

3. Prohibited Content and Conduct

Under no circumstances may any member use DeKarma to:

  • Create, upload, request, transmit, or link to CSAM or CSAE in any form (including profile avatars, request descriptions, chat messages, or dispute attachments).
  • Engage in predatory grooming, suggestive dialogue, or unsolicited solicitation directed at or concerning minors.
  • Post requests demanding hazardous, illegal, or exploitative labor by minors, violating child labor or education laws.
  • Disclose or solicit personal identifying information (PII) of minors, including names, school schedules, photos, or unaccompanied meeting locations.

4. Incident Reporting & Direct Response Channel

We provide multiple direct, dedicated pathways for community members to immediately report any child safety concerns:

When a child safety report is received:

  1. Immediate Quarantine: The reported account is instantly frozen and removed from community visibility pending safety review.
  2. Permanent Termination: Any verified violation involving child sexual exploitation, grooming, or abuse results in permanent, irreversible banning and blacklisting of device identifiers and phone verification.
  3. Statutory Reporting: DeKarma complies strictly with all applicable mandatory reporting laws, including reports to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the Indian Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in), and local statutory law enforcement authorities.
  4. Evidence Preservation: Relevant server logs, IP addresses, and account metadata are preserved securely for formal investigative subpoenas.
